Bone remodeling d vitamin

In Bone remodeling D vitamin plays a very important role. During your life, your bones are constantly going through different cycles of change and renewal. What usually happens is that your old bone is removed, and replaced by new bone. During your childhood period up to the beginning of your adulthood period, your bones become denser, heavier and bigger.

Let us see how vitamin D plays and important part in bone remodeling;

There are two cells that are very important in the bone renewal process. They are known as osteoblasts and osteoclasts. Osteoblasts are the reason for bone renewal, and osteoclasts are responsible for bone resorption.

This is where vitamin D comes into the picture;

Vitamin d is responsible for the recruitment of osteoclasts. Not only that; Vitamin D also plays an important part in the mineralization of bone matrix. Due to these two important roles that Vitamin D plays, having a lack of it can result in the whole bone renewal process been compromised. One such example would be the result of osteomalacia. Osteomalacia is just another way of saying "impaired mineralization". However, on the other side of the coin, too much vitamin D can cause bone loss.

It is therefore important to understand that the importance of Vitamin D not been that one should have a lot of it, but rather, that a person gets enough of it. By doing so, vitamin D can help prevent certain diseases such as osteoprosis and rickets. Not only can vitamin D prevent these types of diseases, but it too can correct certain types of bone disorders.
