Vitamin c and skin care

Vitamin C and skin care go hand in hand in ensuring healthy skin. The reasons for this are that vitamin C is a very powerful protector of your skin. Let us take a look at a few reasons as to why vitamin C is great for your skin.

Even though the sun is an important part of helping your body to manufacture vitamin D for your body, it can also play a negative part in stimulating the production of free radicals, which in turn can cause dangerous diseases like skin cancer and other types of cancer.

By adding vitamin C with your other tools of skin care, you are able to add to the defence against these free radicals. What vitamin C does is actually binds itself to these free radicals, thus rendering them harmless. Not only that, but this vitamin is also responsible for the production of collagen, which just so happens to be one the most important structural elements in your skin.

Vitamin C is also a great helper against dry skin. It does this by strengthening collagen and elastin, which are situated in the deepest levels of the skin. By doing this, it allows collagen fibrils, which are known to have amazing moisture binding properties to do its magic.

One thing that is important to know is that vitamin C can become very unstable when exposed to air and sunlight. Because of this, it may loose some of its effective abilities when used in creams. One way to make up for this is by choosing cream products that have a high vitamin C concentration( try to aim for at least 10%), as well as make sure that it is also low in PH.

In conclusion to vitamin C and skin care, some of the other benefits which vitamin C can produce to your skin are as a sunscreen, skin bleach, skink tissue builder as well as treatment for sun damaged skin. This vitamin is also capable of inhibiting the formation of melanin.

It seems as though this vitamin never seems to stop amazing people :-)
